We've added the "wide area" designation to our 1-WAY pagers so as not to confuse them with the in-building pagers that can only work within the confines of a building such as a restaurant, office or assisted living facility. 1-way wide area pagers have their own pager phone number, and the Alpha-Numeric versions also have their own email address to receive emailed word messages right on the pager's display screen.

One-way wide area pagers can receive pages for miles based on coverage availability as well as the coverage region selected at the time of your order. These pagers can be programmed to work locally or in a region, such as the covered areas within a state or a full region, which could encompass multiple neighboring states or nationwide, where the pager can receive pages in all covered areas within the USA

It is important to understand...a 1-way pager cannot reply back to a numeric page or alphanumeric message...It can only receive the page.
