Has your pager company gone out of business?
We know it can be disheartening to say the least. One day you wake up to find out that your pager has been disconnected and you know that you paid the bill.
So, you then proceed to contact your paging service provider and find that they are not answering the phone or worse yet, the phone number has been disconnected.
So what do you do? In some cases, if a paging company is closing up shop, they make arrangements for the transfer of their remaining accounts to another paging company for a smooth transition. However, in some situations that is not always possible. For example, if there was a tragedy such as the sudden death of the owner or an accident or other health related issue that left the management unable to take action in a timely fashion.
Depending on the situation, there are some common issues that may arise. The most common in the case of a sudden closure is that the pager phone numbers are suspended but not necessarily gone for good. This may be temporary until arrangements are made between the paging carrier and the entity that has gone out of business along with the entity that will be taking over the affected accounts. How temporary? It could be as little as a few days and as long as several months or longer in some cases depending on the complexity of the issue at hand.
So what can you do?
In a best case scenario, we may be able to obtain control of your pager phone number and reconnect it once you provide us with your information.
Please provide:
- Your name / address / city / state / zip code as it appears on your current pager bill
- Your contact phone number including area code (other than your pager phone number)
- If you have your account number with your present pager company, or better yet, a copy of your last pager bill (this will be very helpful but not mandatory).
- A picture of the front and back of your pager.
- A request to transfer your pager to "DirectPage" and use the words "as soon as possible"
Email this information to support@pagersdirect.net. We will then make the arrangements with the paging carrier and let you know when the pager is under our control. We will then bill you for the service at our current rates with payment due within 7 days of the billing date.
Our rates are listed here: https://pagersdirect.net/pages/pager-service-rate-plans
If the best case scenario is not available...although there is not much you can do to get your pager phone number back on immediately, you may order a replacement pager or pager app for your smartphone and a new number on the same carrier network from PagersDirect so you can be back with an operating pager service and then, once the smoke has cleared, it may be possible at some point in the future to get your previous pager phone number back ringing to your pager. However, there is also the possibility that your pager phone number was "rationalized" which means the pager number needed to be given back to the underlying phone company and cannot be reconnected to a pager. We want to stress that if we are unable to get your old pager phone number back right away, it may not be possible to get it back at all.
If you are in this situation, feel free to reach out to PagersDirect at 877-472-4370 ext 0 to text us or ext 1 for sales (after Frank greets you) as we may be able to help you.
